The Point of Care Policy describes the role and responsibilities of the Trust, the POCT team and POCT users in the use of POCT devices. This is essential to:

• Protect patients and staff
• Ensure all devices are used correctly, consistently and safely
• Manage the introduction and regulate the use of POCT devices
• Provide a cost effective and clinically effective analytical service

The policy is central to our governance structure for POCT.
