For electronic requesting using EPIC (RDUH ONLY):

Search for: ‘Body fluid MC&S‘ or test code ‘LAB269‘ – select “Abdomen – Peritoneal dialysis fluid (CAPD)” as the specimen source

Special Instructions

• Using needle and syringe, aspirate fluid from PD bag after sterilising port of bag with Steret

• Transfer 10-20ml into sterile universal

• Inoculate 8ml into each blood culture bottle. Stand the bottle on a firm surface for this. Do not hold the bottle with you other hand because of the risk of inoculation injuries
