Diagnosis of past infection (IgG) or vaccination and current / recent infection (IgM) with Mumps virus.
Routine testing is not recommended post vaccines.
Serology – Blood sample (serum)
PCR – Oral fluid (Buccal swab)
Gold top clotted (5ml)
Red or green topped viral swab or Buccal kit from UKHSA South West HPT (0300 303 8162)
For electronic requesting using EPIC (RDUH ONLY):
Search for: ‘Measles Mumps or Rubella Serology / PCR‘ or test code ‘O1230211‘ – select the appropriate test
If acute infection suspected, contact PHE (0300 303 8162) & send Buccal swab as instructed.
