You can contact us in a variety of ways:-

Please note: Microbiology consults made via Epic & ICE or emails via Microconsultants will be answered from 09:00-16:30 Monday-Friday. Consults made outside of these times will not receive a same day response. Outside these hours an on-call service for urgent advice operates via the hospital switchboard  for Registrars, Fellows and Consultants only.

Inpatient E-Consult

Inpatient consultation to microbiology for clinical advice through Epic (RDUH Only).  Calls for advice will be accepted from Registrars, Fellows and Consultants.

Consults should contain the following information:

  • Summary: Presenting complaint, history of presenting complaint, duration of admission, antibiotics given & duration, relevant results (microbiological & imaging etc).
  • Clinical impression
  • Clinical question for Microbiologist to answer

For Outpatient queries, the Emergency Department or for clinically unwell patients requiring urgent advice contact the microbiology department on 2962 between  09:00-16:30.

 

GP E-Consult (New)

GP consultation to Microbiology for clinical advice through ICE. This process will replace the Microconsultants email (except for patients without an NHS number) from 30th September 2024.
