These tests are not undertaken routinely due to high cost. Please discuss with the consultant Microbiologist before sending sample.

Sputum and blood culture are the standard diagnostic tests.

Detection of Streptococcus pneumoniae antigens in urine. Use for diagnosis of community acquired pneumonia.
