For Mother:

Search for: ‘Maternal HIV reference test‘ or test code ‘LAB9903

Special Instructions

Please state time of collection and label with the minimum patient identification. Labelling must include the following:

  • Surname
  • First Name
  • Date of Birth
  • Unique Identifier – NHS Number  (Hospital No)
  • Name of mother
  • NHS number of mother

Please include relevant clinical details and any antimicrobial therapy the patient is taking.

Test Usage

Determination of HIV genotype in pregnant women.

Determination of HIV status of neonates born to HIV positive mothers. Send a sample at 0, 6 and 12 weeks of age.
