Special Instructions

Haemolysed samples cannot be tested – mix sample tube gently by inversion, do not shake

Factors affecting results

False positive reactions have been reported in samples collected from patients with recent CMV, Hepatitis A, parvovirus and leptospira infection.

Some patients may take time to develop heterophile antibodies. If symptoms persist, it is recommended to repeat the assay in 7-10 days. Some patients may remain persistently negative.
